Tour Description
Take a cruise along the iconic Yarra River and see Melbourne from the water, relaxing in style with an expert guide pointing out the landmarks. Combining stunning views of the city skyline and the natural beauty of the river, the cruise takes in a wide sweep of the entertainment, leisure and business and port areas that make Melbourne one of the world’s best places in which to live.
Melbourne is consistently rated as one of the world’s most liveable cities. Its unique combination of style and climate has seen it grow into an international venue for sport, business and culture, with a bustling city centre that still maintains its natural beauty.
The key natural feature of Melbourne is the Yarra River, which runs right through the city, forming its heart. The best way to see all of Melbourne in one go is from the water and the Melbourne Highlights Tour will show you the best of this city in style and comfort.
All aboard!
Starting from the Southgate Arts & Leisure Precinct, the cruise heads downriver past the city's CBD, towards the stunning Westgate Bridge, a marvel of modern architecture.
We’ll cruise past Fishermen’s Bend and reach the famous Docklands entertainment district where you can see Swanson Dock, pass under the Bolte Bridge, Victoria Harbour and the Southern Star Observation Wheel.
As we turn back upriver, you'll see the bustling Central Business District, The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, as well as the World Congress and Trade Centre. A big highlight is the 19th century sailing ship Polly Woodside, which offers a great photo opportunity, perfectly capturing Melbourne’s mix of old and new.
Continue past the vibrant Melbourne skyline, busy Crown Entertainment Complex, historic Flinders Street Station, and the modern architecture of Federation Square toward the upper section of river. We cruise past the beautiful grounds of the Royal Botanic Gardens, admiring this verdant park that makes the city more than just a place to do business.
Melbourne is a sports-mad city and no trip would be complete without seeing the city’s sporting heart. Home to sporting complexes hosting Cricket, AFL, Rugby League, Soccer, Netball, Basketball, Tennis, and many others, We’ll cruise past the Holden Centre, Olympic Park, Melbourne Park, and the world-famous Melbourne Cricket Ground or MCG. They are all within touching distance on one side of the river with the Botanic Gardens on the other.
Finally, we’ll cruise along to Herring Island and have a look at the historic Como House before turning back downriver to return to our original departure point.
Melbourne is a big city with plenty to see and do – and a river cruise is the best way to truly connect and see all it has to offer.
